Research grows out of curiosity, and responds to questions or challenges that we face as individuals or communities. It often extends the frontiers of our knowledge, and should share findings within and across scientific disciplines and with the broader public.
I have, throughout my career, conducted research on the anthropology of Southeast Asia, especially on Indonesian cultures and languages. I have also worked – with an applied research and policy perspective – on agricultural development, agro-ecology, biodiversity, and environmental policy.
With that background, I am interested in conducting collaborative research work with organizations and individuals that are looking to reinforce their research capacities or seeking external advise and inputs.
Writing is integral to the research process from the very first ideas and research questions through fieldnotes, draft reports, articles and manuscripts for book publications. Our conversation with the academic world or the public at large depends to a large extent on the quality of texts we are able to produce.
In my areas of expertise, I provide support as a critical reader and reviewer. This may include close reading of draft texts, going through texts line by line in face-to-face discussions, in order to clarify arguments, strengthen the structure and improve the style so that your work speaks to the audiences you would like to reach.
